How It Works

The Welcome Church project provides general resources for churches interested in welcoming newcomers to Canada. Faith communities who register with Welcome Church will be given access to the secure portal which provides training and resources, as well as, the opportunity to share your experience with other Welcome Churches from across Canada. In the coming months, we will be adding the capability for registered churches to connect securely with each other in order to support newcomers on the move within Canada.

To learn more about how you and your church can be equipped as a welcoming church, register your faith community here and follow the instructions. Individuals who register will have access to the Welcome Church portal and resource hub. Registered communities will also be featured on the Welcome Church interactive map. After registering, the Welcome Church Management Team will be in touch to learn how we can further support you.

Once you have access to the portal and resource hub, we encourage you to complete the core Welcome Church training consisting of nine videos and a brief reflection document. Churches that complete this training will be featured on our interactive map, which will allow registered communities and newcomers to contact you through our secure interface.

If you are a refugee or are part of a church interested in welcoming refugees, visit the CanRefugee website for additional resources and help.

The CanHK website has resources for newcomers from Hong Kong as well as training for churches interested in specifically welcoming newcomers from Hong Kong.
